Day 12. Explore the Rainbow mountain and Red Valley
With a 5:00 am pickup from your accommodation and the comforts of our private transportation, set out on an exciting journey. As we travel through the South Valley of Cusco, you will be treated to incredible views of the mighty Andes and charming indigenous communities. The trailhead is calling, and the surrounding area’s natural splendor serves as an enticing precursor to the journey ahead.
After three hours of gorgeous travel, our private van pulls up at the trailhead. In the middle of this gorgeous scenery, we take a stop for a tasty box meal to fuel us for the climb ahead. Reaching the highest point of Rainbow Mountain, which towers at 5,050 meters (16,568 feet), is a satisfying two-hour hike. At the top, a stunning view of brilliant colors stretches out to the horizon. This natural marvel begs to be captured in pictures.
However, the journey doesn’t end here. We walk on the right side of Rainbow Mountain to the charming Red Valley after taking in the beauty of the mountain. There are plenty of opportunities to take breathtaking shots along this magnificent road, which reveals even more gorgeous views.
After descending for about 1.5 hours, we reach the trailhead where the journey started. After that, we get back in our private van and head to a wonderful lunch site, which takes an hour to reach. We eat a fantastic lunch and then head back to Cusco.
