DAY 1: CUSCO, CACHORA, CAPULIYOC TO CHIQUISKA
Our Choquequirao trek begins in style. Our private vehicle will collect you from your Cusco hotel at 5:00 a.m. As we journey outward, witness the historical significance of the Cunyac Bridge, marking the border between the Apurimac and Cusco regions.
Our first stop is Cachora, a charming village nestled at 9,186 feet (2,800 meters). Here, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase last-minute snacks and essentials for your trek. We then continue to Capulliyoc, situated at 9,662 feet (2,945 meters), the official starting point for our adventure.
In Capulliyoc, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our knowledgeable horse drivers, who will accompany you throughout the trek. As you gear up for the journey, indulge in a delicious meal amidst the breathtaking views. Towering snow-capped peaks like Wayna Cachora and Padrayoc dominate the horizon, while the Apurimac Valley unfolds beneath you. This is just a glimpse of the natural wonders that await.
Prepare for an exhilarating descent as we embark on our trek towards Chiquiska, our first campsite nestled at a comfortable 6,069 feet (1,850 meters). The journey, lasting approximately 3–4 hours, will showcase the remarkable transformation of the landscape. Witness dramatic shifts in weather, flora, and fauna with every step, offering a captivating introduction to the diverse ecosystems of the region.

DAY 2: CHIQUISKA,PLAYA ROSALINA AND CHOQUEQUIRAO
We are going to continue our hike in the path of Playa Rosalina (1550 m/5,085 ft) after breakfast. We begin our climb up to Santa Rosa by traversing the Apurimac River on a sturdy bridge. We’ll ascend to a height of 2100 m (6,889 ft) in around three hours, giving you time to enjoy the exhilarating feeling of overcoming the challenging terrain. Rejuvenate your senses with a well-earned rest at Santa Rosa before proceeding with the tour.
Our journey continues with another exciting climb that takes us to Maranpata at 2900 meters (9,514 feet). Throughout the two hours of hiking, the breathtaking scenery and amazing views of Choquequirao will keep you captivated. Savor the delicacies of lunch while taking in the stunning view of the ancient ruins.
Following a delectable meal, we’ll head in the direction of our second campground. Reaching the breathtaking Choquequirao Inca site, which is located at an elevation of 3100 m (10,170 ft), takes around two hours of hiking. Look up as we come closer to this architectural wonder to see the magnificent Andean condors soaring over the heavens, making for a breathtaking sight. Admire Choquequirao’s magnificence and lose yourself in its ethereal atmosphere.
Be mesmerized by the variety of plants and animals that line the route as you travel. Experience the splendor of diverse orchid species, bringing a bit of the natural world to your hiking adventures.

Prepare for a breathtaking four-hour descent deeper into the Apurimac Canyon. Immerse yourself in the grandeur of the natural world as you navigate the untamed landscape. Take in the canyon’s vastness from every angle and capture stunning photographs to preserve these enduring memories.
After reaching Playa Rosalinas at an elevation of 1,550 meters (5,085 feet), we’ll take a well-deserved lunch break. Savor a delicious meal while surrounded by the captivating scenery, providing a perfect moment to recharge before the next leg.
The next leg presents an exhilarating two-hour climb. Ascend towards Chiquiska base camp, situated at a comfortable elevation of 1,850 meters (6,069 feet), where you’ll spend the night. The anticipation of a cozy night’s sleep will surely motivate you to conquer the ascent.

Today is the fifth and last day of our incredible Choquequirao Trek. Be ready for an early start. We’ll start our gratifying journey, which will take around 4 hours to reach Capuliyoc at 2945 meters (9,662 feet), after a hearty breakfast. This is the point where our hiking journey comes to an end and we say goodbye to our amazing horsemen.
Get ready to take in the breathtaking views and enthralling scenery as we climb. We look forward to arriving at our destination with a sense of satisfaction after completing the difficult but rewarding journey.
A satisfying lunch awaits us at Capuliyoc, allowing us to refuel and enjoy the tastes of a well-earned meal. Enjoy some downtime and think back on the incredible experiences we’ve had together so far on the journey.
Now that our journey has come to an end, it is time to say goodbye to the breathtaking scenery. For a convenient and comfortable ride back to your accommodation, our private van will be ready to take us back to Cusco.
