DAY 1: CUSCO – KM 82 – WAYLLABAMBA
Get ready to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure as we pick you up from your hotel and whisk you away on a journey by private transportation to Km 82, where your trek of a lifetime begins.
As you step onto the trail, you’ll be greeted by the lush beauty of the Urubamba River Valley, its emerald waters winding through the rugged terrain. The backdrop of the towering Urubamba Mountain range frames the scene, promising breathtaking vistas at every turn. Keep your camera handy, as you’ll want to capture the awe-inspiring moments.
Our trek takes us through time as well as nature. Along the way, we’ll explore the fascinating archaeological site of Q’anabamba, where the whispers of ancient civilizations still echo. The path then leads us to Willkaraqay, a vantage point that will steal your breath with its panoramic view of Patallacta. It’s a spot that’s as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the soul.
No adventure is complete without delicious sustenance, and we’ve got you covered. At Tarayoq, we’ll pause for a mouthwatering lunch that will recharge your spirit for the journey ahead.
As the sun dips below the horizon, we’ll arrive at our first campsite, nestled in the embrace of nature at Wayllabamba. Here, our team of skilled porters will work their magic, setting up cozy tents that will be your home under the starry Andean sky.

DAY 2: WAYLLABAMBA TO PACAYMAYU
On the most challenging day of our trek, we ascend through a breathtaking landscape filled with native vegetation, the vibrant colors of which contrast against the clear, high-altitude sky. This leg of the journey takes us to the awe-inspiring Warmiwañusca Pass, also known as ‘Dead Woman Pass,’ towering at an elevation of 4215 meters (13,828 feet). As we reach this lofty point, the world unfolds below us in all its glory, a reward for our strenuous efforts.
The trail leading to the pass is a magnificent stone pathway etched into the rugged terrain, guiding us with every step. The descent from here takes us to the serene camping site of Pacaymayu, where we can rest and recharge amidst nature’s wonders. The campsite offers a tranquil escape from the world below, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of the Andes Mountains.

DAY 3: PACAYMAYU TO WIĂ‘AYWAYNA
Prepare for a day that’s not only the longest but is often deemed the highlight of our entire hike. After a hearty breakfast, we set out to conquer Runkurakay Pass, standing proudly at 3950 meters (12,800 feet) above sea level. As we descend, we’ll be captivated by the breathtaking beauty of cloud forests and the ancient stone-paved Inca trails beneath our feet—a testament to the craftsmanship of our ancestors.
Today’s journey is a fascinating blend of history and adventure. We’ll have the privilege of exploring the archaeological sites of Runkuraqay, Sayaqmarca, and Puyupatamarka. These ancient wonders offer a window into the world of the Incas, showcasing their ingenuity and cultural heritage. Walking these original Inca paths feels like stepping back in time, connecting us to the past in a profound way.
Our descent eventually brings us to our final campsite, Wiñay Wayna, nestled at an altitude of 2650 meters (8694 feet). Here, we’ll be treated to panoramic views of the Urubamba Valley, a fitting reward for a day filled with adventure and exploration.

DAY 4: WIÑAYWAYNA TO MACHU PICCHU – AGUAS CALIENTES
On the last day of our adventure, we’ll embark on a memorable journey along the Inca Trail, a path made of flat stones, leading us to Inti Punku, also known as the Sun Gate. This iconic location offers a breathtaking first view of the magnificent Inca citadel, Machu Picchu. Our hike will cover a distance of 6 kilometers (approximately 3.73 miles), providing us with an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the stunning natural beauty of the area.
Upon reaching Inti Punku, we’ll make our way down to the main entrance of Machu Picchu, where we’ll temporarily store our packs. From there, we’ll embark on a comprehensive walking tour of this incredible Inca city, unraveling its rich history and significance.
Following our exploration of Machu Picchu, we’ll take a leisurely bus ride down to Aguas Calientes, where we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch. Afterward, we’ll board the train back to Ollantaytambo, relishing the scenic journey. Our journey will conclude with a private transportation service that will return us to our hotel in Cusco.
